Halfway between Shimla and Rampur, Narkanda is basically a truck stop town, but it is a popular place for skiing (in season) and hiking. The 3300 m Hattu peak. 08km to the east, makes for a good day hike. The ski season lasts from January to mid-April but Narkanda is not as well set up for skiing as Solang Nullah, north of Manali.
This is a small hill station lies on the old Hindustan-Tibet Road (National Highway 22).It is situated at an altitude of 8,100 ft. It is positioned geographically between the valley of river Sutlaj and Beas. Narkanda is famous for its winter sports and enchanting views.It is around 65 kms away from Shimla.The best time to visit this place is between January to June.This is the best place for those who likes to enjoy the adventure activities as well as experiences the panoramic view of surrounding deodar trees.Around Narkanda the major attractions are Hattu peak, Thanedar ect.
